  19. My dear Nephew Dan, Anyone could see Jacqui was your ‘big sister’, your protector. I’ll remember us taking you to the Dells, Santa’s Village and other fun places just us four, as well as with Aunt Kathy’s nephews and nieces. Those times are vivid joyful memories. Watching you as a teenager on your way to becoming a young man. Seeing and remembering your special broad smile, with that happy sparkle in your eyes. How much you enjoyed kidding around, laughing and the special giggle shared when you were around with your Dziadz (Rudy) and Grandma (Stella). After Dziadz died, now a Young man approaching your 30’s, you were quiet, thoughtful, considerate and respectful. This was especially noticeable around your Grandma. During her final few years, you made time to call her. She was proud of, and talked about you often. Your name always brought a smile to her face and until her last days before she passed on. There is one particular memory. I’ll keep it in a special place. It reminds me all anyone needs to know about the person inside of you. A year or so before your Grandma passed on, you came in for a short visit home, from Seattle. You were with your friend Heather. You made a point to put aside some special time to be with your Grandma. You spent that day watching, learning, listening to her stories while learning how to make one of your favorite things, her kolaczki recipe. I don’t know if you realized it at the time? It meant so much to her. A very special ‘gift’ that can never be bought. A simple act. For me and Aunt Kathy, it told us much about what we both thought we already knew. It told us about a young man’s true nature and the character within his heart. We will miss the memories not yet made, and cherish the memories we shared. You’ll always be in our hearts. Uncle Bob and Aunt Kathy.
