Santo DiCarlo was born on September 20, 1935 in Alta Vila Milicia, Sicily, to Salvatore and Angela (nee Scafidi) DiCarlo. He died Friday, February 17, 2017 at Centegra Hospital in Huntley, Illinois.

Santo was the owner/mechanic of O’Hare Automotive since 1984 before retiring to Arizona. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed gardening.

Santo is survived by his wife of 57 years Maria (nee Raia), his children, Sam (Mary) DiCarlo, Tom (Dawn) DiCarlo and Angela (Matthew) Rude; his grandchildren, Santo R. DiCarlo, Mario DiCarlo, Santo Rude, Katye Rude, Karl Rude, and Danielle DiCarlo; his siblings Andrew, Tina, Anna, Maria, and Angela.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Vicenzena.

Elenita P. Tan was born on April 8, 1941 in Calamba, Laguna, Philippines. She died Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Northwest Community Hospital, Arlington Heights.

Mrs. Tan was an elementary school teacher and former actress in the Philippines. She was a member and past president of Chicago Fil-USA Lions Club, past president of the Calamba Assn. of Illinois, past president of the Laguna Association of the Midwest and former overall chairperson of the Philippines Independence Week Committee 2016.

Elenita is survived by her husband Esmeraldo; her daughter, Leah T. (Gines) Montoya, her son Leandro “Lindy” Tan; her granddaughter, Megan T. Montoya and her grandson, Erick T. Montoya.

She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Agustin and Teofila (nee Razon) Paunlagui; and by her siblings.

On a day of celebration, Dolores M. Rokos was born, July 4, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois to Frank and Lucille (nee Ciolkosz) Baker. She died Thursday, February 16, 2017 at The Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

Dolores worked as a Quality Control Manager for Carlson Laboratories. She was a member of Delta Zeta Chi Sorority, St. Edna’s Choir, St. Edna’s Women’s Club and in 2009 received the Servus Fidelis Award from St. Edna’s. She enjoyed bowling, Bunco, Words with Friends, her Book Bunch and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Dolores is survived by her spouse of 51 years, Dr. Robert; her children, Rita L. (Ken) Sistler, Laura L. (Tim) Thraves, and Robert A. Rokos; her grandchildren, Tyler and Erin Thraves, and Matthew Sistler; her brother, Daniel (Diane) Baker; Sister-in-Law, Susan (Ralph) Hahn; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Albert E. Haeger

Albert E. Haeger was born December 3, 1925 in Chicago to Albert and Rose (nee Duensing) Haeger.  He died February 16, 2017 at JourneyCare of Barrington.

After graduation from Oak Park River Forest High School he entered the Specialized Army Training Program at Michigan State University.  After serving in WWII in an engineering battalion he attended Valparaiso University and Purdue University on the GI Bill and earned his Civil Engineering degree.  In his early career, he worked on the design and construction of the interstate highway system from West Virginia to Utah. In 1969 he founded Haeger and Associates, a civil engineering and land surveying company of which he was the president until his retirement in 2002. He resided in Arlington Heights for over 50 years, where he and his wife Jean raised their family before relocating to Fontana, WI.

Albert is survived by his children Martha Haeger, Rev. Martin (Peggy) Haeger, Janet (Robert) Bunn, Mark Haeger, Mary Vanek; his grandchildren Elisabeth (Christopher) Hajduk, Rebecca Bunn, Robert Bunn III, Matthew Haeger, Kate Vanek, Emma Vanek and Madelyn Haeger; his great grandson Andrew Hajduk.

Albert is preceded in death by his wife Martha “Jean” (nee Schnedler) Haeger; his sister Lillian Ross and by his parents.

Thomas James “Tom” Van Bladel

Thomas James Van Bladel, D.D.S., 74, of Arlington Heights, IL, died February 5, 2017. He passed away in Aruba while windsurfing, his favorite activity.
He is survived by his loving wife Yvonne; six siblings: Janet (Ken) Mullins, Gerald (Linda), Alan, Kenneth (Doris), Robert (Sue), and Patricia (Dennis) Nolan; four children: Heather (Josh), Kevin (Shilarna), Erin and Christine; and five grandchildren.
Prior to retirement in 2010, he practiced dentistry in Arlington Heights for 35+ years, caring for over 3500 patients. After graduating from UIC, he became a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, serving aboard the U.S.S. Sperry and at Camp Pendleton. Tom greatly enjoyed science, outdoor activities, exercise and the ocean. He remains well loved, and will be greatly missed. Memorial will be private.

Marydona Weymier was born on January 10, 1919 and was married 40 years to the late Russell C Weymier.  She was born in Lafayette, Indiana to Jerome B and Ruth (nee Ray) Welch. She died Saturday, February 11, 2017 in Arlington Heights, IL.

Marydona Weymier was an active member of Liberty Bible Church in Chesterton, IN and most recently a member of the Orchard Evangelical Free Church in Arlington Heights, IL.  Marydona had a strong faith and was a friend to everyone.  People were drawn to her joyful spirit and charismatic personality.

Raymond Cholewczynski was born on April 23, 1926 in Chicago to Joseph and Victoria (nee Kruesinska) Cholewcznynski. He died Tuesday, February 14, 2017 in Mt. Prospect.

Raymond worked as a bank executive for First National Bank of Chicago. He was a member of St. Emily Catholic Church in Mt. Prospect. Raymond loved to spend time with his wife, Mary, and was loved by all.

Raymond is survived by his spouse Mary, whom he married January 15, 1955 in Chicago; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 Frances Simon was born March 11, 1927 in Chicago to John and Daisy (Sheldon) Simon.  She died February 15, 2017 at her home in Arlington Heights.

Thanks to the loving care of her family, Frances was able to remain in her home until the last day with her daughter Nancy as her caretaker.

Frances is survived by her children, Jane (Leonard) Witter, William Jr. (Joyce E.) Simon, Nancy M. Simon and George Simon; her grandchildren, Andrew, Morgan, Jason, Amy, Susie, William, John, Nicole, Michelle, Adam and Daisy; her great-grandchildren, Asa, Hannah, Ava, Shayla, Ian, Keira, Nathan and Ben; her siblings Jeanne (Milton) Moore and Kathy (Frank) Mouton.

Frances is preceded in death by her husband William G. Simon; her brothers James Simon and John Simon and by her parents.

William (Bill) Charles Schauer, age 90, was born on June 10, 1926 in Chicago, IL to Herman and Georgia (Weidenmiller) Schauer. He passed away Monday, February 13, 2017. Bill was married to his Walther League sweetheart, Marilyn Schauer (Freese) for 64 years.
Bill grew up in Chicago and started his family there. He then lived in Glenview, IL for 33 years and moved to Saddlebrook Farms in Grayslake, IL after he retired. He served in the Navy during World War II in the pacific theater aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Franklin. Bill worked as an electrician for over 40 years, member of IBEW 134. He was a committed Christian and volunteered for several church organizations over the years, ushering and serving on building & finance committees. He was active in the American Legion Post 166, Glenview, IL. In recent years he enjoyed sharing his NASCAR passion with his children and loved to follow the activities of his grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife Marilyn, two daughters, Wendy (Martin) Landwehr, Sally (Jeff) Owen, his son, Michael (Vicki) Schauer, his grandchildren, Lauren (Rob) Dion, Kelsey Schauer, Matthew Seidl and his son-in-law Brian Seidl. He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Kimberly Seidl.

was born August 8, 1923 to John Otto and Elizabeth (nee Leikam) Spoerlein in, Buffalo Grove, Illinois.  She died February 13, 2017, at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.

Marion was a homemaker and was known as Cookie Grandma, her greatest joy was taking care of her children and grand-children.

Marion is survived by her children, Elizabeth (Dean) Martin, William (Elaine), Patricia Taylor, Susan (Edgar) Hopgood, James (Pattie) and John Taylor; her grandchildren, Tom (Kristen) Steel, Jean (Chris) Browne, Ken (Stephanie) Steel, Brian Martin, Elizabeth (Matthew) Ward, Catherine (Rob) Sieber, Edgar III (Christina) Hopgood, Melissa (Jeff) Shea, Nadine (Josh) Siferd, Jennifer Taylor, Ashley (Brandon) Batten and Matt Taylor; and her 19 1/2 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Merton J. Taylor; her siblings George (Dorothy), Evelyn, and LeRoy (Dorothy) Spoerlein; and her parents.
